GhostLab: Dead Channel Privacy Policy

GhostLab: Dead Channel is a spirit box instrument for entertainment. It plays prerecorded and generated voices at random and records each session on your phone. It has no user accounts, no servers of our own, and it collects no data about you.

Summary

No data is collected. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us or to anyone else.
The microphone is never used. The app does not ask for microphone access and never listens.
No ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
No accounts and no sign-in.

Data the app keeps on your device

Session recordings — when you stop a session, the audio the app played is saved in the app’s own storage on your phone, with its date and length. Recordings are never uploaded. Deleting a recording in the Library, or deleting the app, removes them.
Words already heard — so the same words do not keep coming back, the app keeps a list of the words and whispers it has played and when, and holds each one back for an hour (half an hour for the quietest whispers). The list is about the app’s own voices and says nothing about you. Words drop off it after a month, and deleting the app removes it.
Settings — your echo, reverb, white noise, and sweep rate choices are kept on the device so the app opens the way you left it.

Backups

On iPhone and iPad, the app’s files are part of your device backup to iCloud or a computer, when you have backups turned on, like any other app’s. On Android, the app includes only your settings and the start of your free trial in the backup Google keeps for your account, so a reinstall remembers them. Recordings and the list of words heard stay on the phone. These backups belong to your Apple or Google account; we cannot see them.

Purchases

GhostLab: Dead Channel offers a free 48-hour trial and a one-time lifetime unlock.

iPhone and iPad — the trial and the unlock are App Store purchases, handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit.
Android — the unlock is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. The trial starts when you tap for it and is timed by the phone’s own clock; its start time is kept on the device. The internet permission the Android app lists belongs to Google Play’s billing library, which uses it to reach Google Play; the app itself sends nothing.

We receive no payment details and nothing that identifies you. You can restore the unlock on a new device from inside the app.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data.
We do not run analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or trackers.
We do not record your voice or the room around you.

Children

The app carries the age rating shown on its App Store and Google Play pages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app collects none from anyone.

Changes

If our practices change, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect.
