GhostLab: Spirit Detector Privacy Policy

GhostLab: Spirit Detector draws what the LiDAR scanner on iPhone Pro and iPad Pro measures, as points of light and as a wire model of the room. It has no user accounts, no servers of our own, and it collects no data about you.

Summary

No data is collected. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us or to anyone else.
The camera is used only to measure the room. The app never saves the camera picture.
The microphone is never used. Recordings are video only, and the app does not ask for microphone access.
Your location is never used.
No ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
No accounts and no sign-in.

The camera and the LiDAR scanner

The LiDAR scanner is part of the iPhone and iPad camera system, and iOS only hands its depth readings to apps that have camera access. That is why Spirit Detector asks for the camera when you start your first scan.

Depth readings and camera frames are used live, on the device, to place and colour the dots. The points you have scanned are held in memory while the app is open and are never written to storage on their own.
A snapshot or recording contains the dots and the wire model as you see them on screen, coloured by distance, with a small GhostLab mark in the corner. The camera picture itself is never part of it.
If you decline camera access, or turn it off later in iOS Settings, the app cannot scan. Your Library and settings stay as they are.

Data the app keeps on your device

Snapshots and recordings — each one is saved in the app’s own Library, in its storage on your device. Like other app documents, they are included in your device backup. Deleting an item in the Library, or deleting the app, removes them.
Settings — your view (dots, mesh, or both), colour, dot size, glow, and whether captures also go to Photos are kept on the device so the app opens the way you left it.
Trial and purchase state — the time your 48-hour trial started and whether you own the unlock are kept in this device’s keychain, so the app works offline. These entries stay on the device and are not synced to iCloud. iOS can keep keychain entries after an app is deleted, so the trial start may still be there if you reinstall.

Photos and sharing

Saving to Photos uses add-only access. The app can place a snapshot or recording in your photo library and cannot see anything already in it. It asks for this only when you tap Save to Photos in the Library or turn on Also save to Photos in Settings.
The share sheet sends a capture wherever you choose. Once it leaves the app, the app or person you shared it with decides what happens to it.

Purchases

Spirit Detector is free for 48 hours from your first scan. After that, a one-time purchase unlocks it for good. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. We receive no payment details and nothing that identifies you. You can restore the unlock on a new device from the unlock screen.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data.
We do not run analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or trackers.
We do not upload your scans, snapshots, or recordings.
We do not record audio or use your location.

Children

The app carries the age rating shown on its App Store page. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app collects none from anyone.

Changes

If our practices change, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect.
